FENG SHUI AND REAL ESTATE

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui (pronounced fung shway) has been practiced in china for over 3000 years. This environmental art and science sees the world as completely alive, with all things - buildings, streets, land, even furnishings connected in a dynamic relationship that effects all we experience.

When used in the design and organization of living and working spaces Feng Shui can enhance all aspects of life. Essential to this is the identification of the energy flow and dynamics of these buildings and spaces; the Feng Shui consultant then employs a variety of skills and tools to bring about a degree of harmonious living within the environment.

Benefits of Feng Shui

Feng Shui, regarded as one of the most powerful self-improvement tools of our time, is founded on the premise that people experience happier, healthier and more prosperous lives when their living and working environments are harmonious. When the Feng Shui Consultant's suggestions are implemented, clients may expect, over a period of time, to see significant enhancements in one or more facets of their life. For example,

  • Increased personal and business prosperity
  • Career opportunity or advancement
  • Improved relationships with family and others
  • Boost in health
  • Opportunities related to travel, education, spirituality

Feng Shui and Real Estate

Have you ever noticed that when you enter certain homes they feel "just right" while others leave you inexplicably uncomfortable? As a Feng Shui Consultant I know that this "feeling" is often related to unseen environmental factors or how energy flows within the living and working space. The ideal home, of course, is one that exhibits balance and harmony whereby the occupants feel one with the surroundings, a state that allows your prosperity to grow and thrive. This can best be achieved by setting up the living space (furniture, accessories, flowers, etc.) to promote positive energy flow and to select certain colours and materials that will blend to provide the required balance.

If you are selling a home, this harmonious atmosphere will make prospective clients much more receptive, thus speeding up the sale process and maximizing your return on sale. Conversely, if you are purchasing a home you will want to avoid problematic properties - these have the ability to negatively impact on your finances, reputation, relationships, health and many other aspects of your future prosperity.

What We Do

Our objective will be to assess the levels of energy in the living space, its ability to meander freely and determine the overall sense of balance and harmony associated with objects, colours and materials.

  1. The examination starts with the neighborhood - how is energy impacted by the proximity to major highways and routes (excessive energy) or bodies of water (calming impact); we look for healthy trees, lawns and gardens and the presence of birds and animals.
  2. The size, shape and location of the lot on the street are important factors along with the overall condition of the landscaping, sheds, pathways, exterior siding and windows, etc.
  3. The size and shape of the building and its location on the lot are important. We note in particular "missing" sections from the house (e.g. L shape), outdoor rooms (decks and patios) and anchoring objects such as trees, boulders and outdoor lights.
  4. We will perform a room-by-room examination of the home paying specific attention to,
    • traffic patterns
    • furniture placement
    • location of artwork, personal pictures and accessories
    • presence of clutter
    • cleanliness of bathrooms, stoves and appliances
    • colours and materials - do they provide a balanced effect?

As a Feng Shui Consultant there are a number of skills and tools I have available to overcome any negative factors or deficiencies associate with the assessment; in most cases the recommendations are relatively simple and inexpensive but can have very powerful effects on the prosperity of clients.
